Dr. Narasimhan

Sumana Narasimhan, M.D. is a pediatric endocrinologist at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital (UH Rainbow). After attending medical school in India, she completed her pediatric residency in New York before practicing as a primary pediatrician in rural West Virginia for four years. In this role, she observed a high incidence of childhood obesity and a lack of specialists in the field of childhood obesity and diabetes. She further specialized in the field of pediatric diabetes at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital which is well known for being the first academic center to publish new literature highlighting the rising incidence of type 2 diabetes in children. She then joined UH Rainbow as a faculty member in 2005, and her current work involves clinical research in type 2 diabetes, childhood obesity, and clinical practice in endocrinology in addition to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in the field.
